Fortville Bastille Day

Fortville (Hancock Co., Central Reg)

Landmark Park

DescriptionSave the date! Fortville Bastille Day will take place on Sat., Jul.13 from 5pm-11pm in Landmark Park, Fortville, IN.

Bring your favorite chair or blanket and a picnic basket. Or, come empty-handed and enjoy delicious food and treats from local chefs. And, if you are getting too hot, cool off with a refreshing dessert. No, you won’t go hungry at Bastille Day…

We’ll make sure you feel as though you're in France by playing a variety of French music from Carla Bruni, Jacques Brel and Zazie to Edith Piaf and accordion music. And Madame Karine Vinci, coming directly from France, will sing for us!

What’s in it for the little ones? After face painting and the bounce house, make sure to take them to the puppet show theatre that will feature a whimsical French-themed performance.

Especially don’t miss our special “Pétanque Championship”! Pétanque is a form of bocce balls where the goal is to throw balls as close as possible to a small ball called a cochonnet (literally “piglet”) or jack. The game is played by about 17 million people in France. Just come in and sign up on the sheets to participate in the championship. Anyone 5 yrs. and up can play!

At dusk we will have a beautiful candlelight lantern procession for the children. This is a French tradition for Bastille Day and it is both fun and gorgeous looking. Be sure to join us by 9:30pm!

Last, but not least, we will have a spectacular laser light show with a 30 foot screen made possible by our wonderful sponsors. The show will start at 10pm and will last about 20 minutes.

Entrance to Fortville Bastille Day is free and open to the public!

Oktoberfest

DATES: Oct. 11

Traders Point Creamery

Description7th Annual Oktoberfest: On Saturday, October 13th, 2012 we will be celebrating our Sixth Annual Oktoberfest on the farm. So dust off your lederhosen and head to Traders Point Creamery. This celebration, in the German tradition, offers plenty of tantalizing organic food, beer and wine and toe-tapping music from PolkaBoy, a rollicking 13-piece polka band. There are plenty of activities the kids will enjoy too, like hayrides, a pumpkin patch, family activities and watch cow milking! And while you’re having fun, you’ll be helping the farm raise money for the Traders Point Rural Historic District, a nonprofit organization that protects more than 7,000 acres of green space around Eagle Creek for the enjoyment of generations to come. An additional 2,600 acres have been added to the National Register of Historic Places with the help of our Oktoberfest. This rare honor is only the third rural historic district to be named in Indiana. The fundraiser has donated over $50,000 to the Traders Point Rural Historic Districts in the last 5 years. Tickets are $10, $8 in advance. Log on to www.traderspointcreamery.com for more information.
